Front CA Only

REMOVAL:

Exhaust System (California):

1. Disconnect negative battery cable from battery.

CAUTION: Wait 30 seconds or longer from the time the ignition switch is turned to the "LOCK" position and the negative battery terminal is disconnected before starting work.

Exhaust Pipe Removal And Installation:

2. Loosen two bolts, and disconnect bracket.

3. Remove two bolts and nuts holding the front exhaust pipe to the center exhaust pipe.

4. Remove the three nuts retaining the exhaust pipe to the front TWC.

5. Remove the front exhaust pipe and gaskets.

6. Ensure the TWC is cool. Disconnect the sub-oxygen sensor connector.

Exhaust Manifold Retaining Bracket (rear):

7. Remove the bolt, nut and rear manifold stay.

Exhaust Manifold Retaining Bracket (front):

8. Remove bolt, nut and front manifold stay.

Front TWC Bolt Removal And Installation:

9. Remove the three bolts, two nuts, three-way catalytic converter, gasket, retainer and cushion.

Front TWC Heat Insulators:

10. Remove the eight bolts and two heat insulators from the TWC.

INSTALLATION:

Front TWC Heat Insulators:

1. Install two heat insulators to a new TWC with eight bolts.

Front TWC Gasket, Retainer And Cushion:

2. Place new cushion, retainer and gasket on the TWC.

Front TWC Bolt Removal And Installation:

3. Install and torque TWC with, three bolts and two new nuts.
Torque Value: 22 ft.lb (29 Nm)

Exhaust Manifold Retaining Bracket (rear):

Exhaust Manifold Retaining Bracket (front):

4. Install and torque front and rear exhaust manifold stays.
Torque Value: 31 ft.lb (42 Nm)

5. Connect the sub-oxygen sensor connector.

6. Place two new gaskets on the front and rear of the front exhaust pipe.

7. Temporarily install the two bolts and two new nuts holding the front exhaust pipe to the center exhaust pipe.

8. Install and torque three new nuts holding the front exhaust pipe to the front TWC.
Torque Value: 46 ft.lb (62 Nm)

9. Torque two bolts and nuts holding the front exhaust pipe to the center exhaust pipe.
Torque Value: 32 ft.lb (43 Nm)

10. Install the bracket with the two bolts.

11. Connect cable to negative battery terminal.
