On 5S-FE engines, valve adjustment is accomplished by installing the proper thickness shim to achieve proper valve clearance. Shims are available in .0020 inch (.050mm) increments, Figs. 21 and 22. Clearance on intake valves is .007-.011 inch and exhaust valves is .011-.015 inch.
