ROOF SIDE-RAIL WEATHERSTRIP REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES

To replace MR2 T-top panel side-rail weatherstrip, follow the procedures below.

Note: Assembly and disassembly procedures for removable T-top roof are found in 1991 MR2 Repair Manual.

ROOF SIDE RAIL WEATHERSTRIP REMOVAL

1. Remove the two screws (one at each end of the roof side-rail weatherstrip) securing the weatherstrip to the glass sub-assembly (see Figure 1).

2. Remove the weatherstrip and butyl tape sealant remaining on the glass sub-assembly in the indicated areas shown in Figure 2.

APPLICATION OF WEATHERSTRIP ADHESIVE

1. Apply weatherstrip adhesive (suggested products and part numbers on page 3), to the back side of the glass sub-assembly molding as shown in Figure 3.

Note: Applying too much adhesive will result in improper fit. Apply to a diameter of approximately 3 mm.

2. Apply weatherstrip adhesive to the back of the glass sub-assembly as shown in Figure 4.

WEATHERSTRIP INSTALLATION

1. Fit the weatherstrip to the roof side-rail in the order indicated in Figure 5.

Note: To ensure proper fit, placement of the weatherstrip in lip number 1 must be secure.

2. Secure weatherstrip ends to glass subassembly as shown in Figure 6.

FINAL INSPECTION:

After installing weatherstrip, confirm that there are no water leaks.

If water leakage is evident, allow the weatherstrip to dry, apply additional weatherstrip adhesive to the affected areas, and retest for leakage.

SUGGESTED ADHESIVES:

Toyota suggests using one of the following products or an equivalent adhesive to secure the weatherstrip to the glass sub-assembly.
