Engine: Service and Repair
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.2. Remove fuel tank protectors and engine undercover.
3. Drain oil and coolant from engine.
4. Remove intercooler assembly.
5. Remove battery.
6. Label, then disconnect all vacuum hoses and electrical connectors from engine.
7. On models equipped with A/C, disconnect throttle cable.
8. On models equipped with cruise control, disconnect control cable.
9. On all models, disconnect heater hoses and No. 6 radiator hose.
10. Disconnect, then cap fuel inlet and outlet lines.
11. Disconnect speedometer cable and brake booster vacuum hose.
12. Remove radiator reservoir tank.
13. Disconnect No. 1 radiator hose from water outlet housing.
14. Pull engine wire harness from engine compartment.
15. On models equipped with A/C, remove compressor drive belt. Raise and support vehicle.
16. On models with manual transaxle, disconnect control cables from shifter outer lever and selector levers. Remove clutch release cylinder and control bracket.
17. On all models, disconnect and cap engine oil cooler lines.
18. On models equipped with automatic transaxle, disconnect and cap oil cooler lines.
19. On all models, disconnect front exhaust pipe.
20. Disconnect rear driveshafts.
21. Remove front mount insulator.
22. Remove rear mount insulator.
23. Install suitable engine lifting/lowering equipment, then remove engine and transaxle assembly from vehicle as follows:
a. Place engine/transaxle saddle under assembly.
b. Lower vehicle while supporting engine with saddle.
c. Remove nuts and bolts securing righthand bracket and righthand mount insulator.
d. Remove the two or three (depending on transaxle application) attaching bolts from lefthand mount insulator and transaxle bracket.
e. Slowly raise vehicle.
f. Ensure engine/transaxle assembly is clear of all wiring, hoses and cables.
24. Remove engine/transaxle assembly from vehicle.
25. Reverse procedure to install.
