Hydraulic Control Assembly - Antilock Brakes: Testing and Inspection
Actuator Checker Hookup:
Sheet "A" Overlay:
Actuator Checker:
1. Check battery voltage level is 10 - 14.5 volts.
2. Disconnect the two connectors from the actuator.
3. Connect actuator checker (SST-09990-00150) to the actuator, control relay and body side wiring harness through the sub-wiring harness. Connect the red cable of the checker to the battery positive (+) terminal and the black cable to the negative (-) terminal. Connect the black cable of the sub-wiring harness (SST-09990-00165) to the battery negative (-) terminal or body ground. Place the "SHEET A" overlay (SST-09990-00163) on the actuator checker.
4. Check brake actuator operation.
a. Start the engine, and run at idle.
b. Turn the selector switch of the actuator checker to "FRONT RH" position.
c. Push and hold in the MOTOR switch for a few seconds.
d. Depress the brake pedal and hold it until step (g) is completed.
e. Push the POWER SWITCH and check that the brake pedal does not go down.
CAUTION: Do not push the POWER SWITCH for longer than 10 seconds.
f. Release the switch, and check that the pedal goes down.
g. Push and hold in the MOTOR switch for a few seconds, and check that the pedal returns.
h. Release brake pedal.
i. Push and hold in the MOTOR for a few seconds.
j. Depress the brake pedal and hold it for about 15 seconds. As you hold the pedal down, push the MOTOR switch for a few seconds. Check that the brake pedal does not pulsate.
5. Inspect the other wheels.
a. Turn the selector switch to "FRONT LH" position
b. Repeat steps (c) to (j) of the step 4, check the actuator operation similarly.
c. Similarly, inspect "REAR RH" and "REAR LH" position.
NOTE: When inspecting "REAR LH" position, push the REAR LH switch instead of the POWER SWITCH, and you can inspect anywhere the selector switch position is.
Actuator Connectors:
