Hydraulic Control Assembly - Antilock Brakes: Service and Repair

REMOVAL


1. Remove brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir with a syringe or an equivalent.
CAUTION: Do not let brake fluid remain on a painted surface. Wash off immediately.
2. Disconnect the two electrical connectors from the actuator.
3. Using a properly sized flair nut wrench remove the six brake lines from the actuator.
4. Remove the three nuts holding the actuator on and remove the actuator.
5. Remove the three holders and cushions.


INSTALLATION

1. Install the three cushions into the holders and install them onto the actuator.
2. Install the actuator into the actuator bracket with three nuts and washers and torque them. See SPECIFICATIONS.
NOTE : Install the motor ground wire between the plate washer and spring washer before installing the front right side nut.
3. Connect the six brake tubes to the actuator by hand and then using a flair nut wrench. See SPECIFICATIONS.
4. Connect the two electrical connectors to the actuator.
5. Fill the brake reservoir with brake fluid and bleed the brake system.
6. Check that there are no fluid leaks.
7. Check actuator operation. See DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING PROCEDURES.

REMOVAL


1. Remove brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir with a syringe or an equivalent.
2. Remove rear seat back and seat cushion.
a. Remove the three clips holding the luggage compartment mat to the body.
b. Remove the luggage compartment cover after removing the six bolts securing it.
3. Disconnect the four electrical connectors from the actuator.
4. Remove the actuator.
a. Lift the vehicle and place on jack stands, then disconnect the four brake lines from the connector.
b. Remove the three bolts and four nuts holding the actuator in.
c. Remove the five nuts, remove the actuator cover and rubber seat.
d. Using a properly sized flair nut wrench disconnect the two brake lines from the actuator. Remove the actuator and bracket.

INSTALLATION

1. Install actuator.
a. Install the actuator onto its mount and into place.
b. Using a properly sized flair nut wrench connect the two brake tubes to the actuator.
c. Lift the vehicle and place on jack stands, then install the three bolts and four nuts that hold the actuator in. See SPECIFICATIONS.
d. Using a properly sized flair nut wrench connect the four brake lines to the connector.
e. Install the actuator cover and rubber seat in place, and tighten the five nuts.
2. Connect the four electrical connectors to the actuator.
3. Install the rear seat back and seat cushion
a. Install the setbacks with six bolts.
b. Install the three clips.
c. Install the seat cushion.
4. Fill the brake reservoir with brake fluid and bleed brake system.
5. Check for fluid leakage.
6. Check actuator operation. See DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING PROCEDURES.
