Stabilizer Bar: Service and Repair

W/4 WHEEL DRIVE

1. Remove stabilizer bar to lower suspension arms retaining nuts, cushions and retainers.
2. Disconnect stabilizer bar.
3. Remove stabilizer bar brackets and cushions, then the stabilizer bar.
4. Place stabilizer bar in position, then install new cushion and brackets to frame and insert attaching bolts.
5. Connect stabilizer bar on both sides to lower arms with attaching bolts, retainers and nuts, then torque nuts to 19 ft. lbs. on Pickup models, or 14 ft. lbs. on Van models.
6. Torque bracket set bolts to 9 ft. lbs. on Pickup models, or 14 ft. lbs. on Van models.

W/2 WHEEL DRIVE

1. Remove nuts and rubber cushions from ends of bolt between lower control arms and stabilizer bar ends. Disconnect stabilizer bar, Fig. 15.
2. Remove stabilizer bar brackets, bushings, and stabilizer bar.
3. Reverse procedure to install. Torque bracket bolts to 14 ft. lbs. (19 Nm). Tighten nuts on stabilizer end bolts so .51-.63 inch (13-16 mm) of bolt end is exposed.
