Compressor Clutch: Service and Repair

Magnetic Clutch Assembly, Exploded View:

MAGNETIC CLUTCH DISASSEMBLY

Removing Shaft Nut:

1. Using a socket and SST(07112-76060), remove the shaft nut.

Tool Installation:

2. Install the SST(07112-66040) onto the pressure plate.

Removing Shaft Nut:

3. Using the SST(07112-76060 and 07112-66040) and a socket, remove the pressure plate.




4. Remove the shims from the pressure plate.

Removing Snap Ring:

5. Using the SST(07114-84020), remove the snap ring.

Removing Rotor:

6. Using a plastic hammer, tap the rotor off the shaft.

CAUTION: Be careful not to damage the pulley when tapping on the rotor.

Disconnecting Wires:

7. Disconnect the stator lead wires from the compressor housing.

Removing Snap Ring:

8. Using the SST(07114-84020), remove the snap ring.

Removing Stator:

9. Remove the stator.

MAGNETIC CLUTCH REASSEMBLY

Installing The Stator:

1. Install the stator on the compressor.
2. Using the SST(07114-84020), install the new snap ring.

Disconnecting Wires:

3. Connect the stator lead wires to the compressor housing.

Removing Snap Ring:

4. Install the rotor on the compressor shaft.
5. Using the SST(07114-84020), install the new snap ring.




6. Adjust the clearance between the pressure plate and rotor by removing or installing shims on the compressor shaft.

Standard Clearance: 0.35mm-0.65mm (0.0141in.-0.0259in.)

Installing Shaft Nut:

7. Using the SST(07112-76060) and a torque wrench, install the shaft nut.

Torque: 14 Nm (10 ft-lb)
