Electric Control System

Electric Control:

CIRCUIT

INSPECTION OF ELECTRIC CONTROL COMPONENTS

1. INSPECT WATER THERMO SWITCH
a. Disconnect the thermo switch connector.
b. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminal 1 and body ground.

Resistance:
Coolant temperature
Below 43 °C (109 °F) 0 Ohm
Above 55 °C (131 °F) infinite Ohms

c. Connect the thermo switch connector.

2. INSPECT O/D SOLENOID

a. Disconnect the solenoid connector.
b. Apply voltage between terminal 1 and 2. At this time, confirm that a solenoid operation sound is heard.

c. Using an ohmmeter, measure the solenoid coil resistance between terminal 1 and 2.

Resistance: 13 ± 2 Ohms

d. Connect the solenoid connector.

e. Disconnect the thermo switch connector and turn on the ignition switch.
f. Confirm that an operation sound of the solenoid can be heard if the main switch is repeatedly turned on and off.
g. Connect the thermo switch connector and turn off the ignition switch.

3. INSPECT O/D MAIN SWITCH
a. Remove the center console box.

b. Using an ohmmeter, check the continuity of the terminals 1 and 3 for each switch position.
c. Install the center console box.

4. INSPECT NEUTRAL START SWITCH
Using an ohmmeter, check the continuity of the terminals for each switch position shown in the table.
If continuity between the terminals is not as specified, replace the switch.
