Ignition Timing: Adjustments

1. Connect a timing light to the engine.
2. Start the engine and let it idle. Idle should be 700 rpm, adjust as necessary.






3. Short terminals TE and E1 of the check connector.






4. Loosen the set bolts and slowly turn the distributor until the timing marks, when illuminated by the timing light, indicate 10° BTDC.
5. Tighten the hold down bolts then ensure that the timing is still at spec. Torque bolts to 14 Nm (10 ft.lbs).






6. Remove the service wire.






7. Timing should now move between 10° - 13° BTDC.
