Carburetor: Testing and Inspection
VSV Open Test:
1. Connect one VSV terminal to battery positive. Connect the other VSV terminal to battery negative.
2. Blow into pipe, ensure air passage is clear and unrestricted.
VSV Closed Test:
3. Disconnect battery positive from VSV terminal.
4. Blow into pipe, ensure air passage is closed.
5. If VSV operation differs from above, replace VSV.
VSV Short Circuit Test:
6. Connect an ohmmeter to VSV positive terminal and VSV body. Ensure no continuity exists.
VSV Open Circuit Test:
7. Connect an ohmmeter between VSV terminals. Measure resistance.
Resistance Value 38 - 44 ohms @ 68°F (20° C)
8. If continuity exists between positive terminal and body or resistance value is not within specifications, replace VSV.
