LICENSE PLATE HOLES - LOCATION:

1986 1/2 model Supras do not have pre-formed holes in the front bumper fascia for the license plate mounting bolts. The following procedure should be used to ensure a proper installation of the license plate.

1. Locate the two small depressions or dimples in the center area of the front bumper fascia (as shown below).

2. Using a sharp, pointed awl or punch make a small hole in the center of each dimple. A soldering iron with a small tip may also be used. (Caution: Do not inhale smoke from urethane material.) Do not use a drill to make the holes since the weld nut threads may be damaged.

3. Verify the location of the weld nuts in the bumper frame through the holes made in the previous step.

4. Mount the license plate and frame using the 4 mm thread size bolts.
