Removal
1. Raise and support rear of vehicle.
2. Remove axle shaft, then the No. 1 suspension arm-to-axle carrier attaching nut, Fig. 12.
3. Using suitable puller, remove suspension arm No. 1 tie rod end from axle carrier.
4. Scribe reference marks between suspension arm No. 1 adjusting cam and crossmember, then remove arm pivot nut, bolt, cams and arm.
5. Remove suspension arm No. 2-to-axle carrier attaching nut and bolt, then disconnect arm from carrier.
6. Scribe reference marks between suspension arm No. 2 adjusting cam and crossmember, then remove arm pivot nut, bolt, cams and arm.
Inspection
1. Flip tie rod end stud back and forth five times, then install nut.
2. Using torque wrench, turn nut continuously one turn each 2-4 seconds and take torque reading on fifth turn.
3. If turning torque is not 7-30 inch lbs., replace No. 1 suspension arm.
Installation
Reverse procedure to install. Prior to tightening attaching parts, lower vehicle to ground and bounce vehicle several times to stabilize suspension. Torque No. 1 suspension arm-to-axle carrier attaching nut to 43 ft. lbs., suspension arms-to-crossmember attaching nuts to 136 ft. lbs. and suspension arm-to-axle carrier attaching nuts to 121 ft. lbs.
