Evaporator Core: Service and Repair
Suction And Liquid Tubes:
1. Disconnect battery ground cable and discharge system refrigerant.
2. Remove charcoal canister with bracket.
Cooling Unit (Evaporator):
3. Disconnect refrigerant lines at evaporator, capping all openings.
4. Remove grommets from inlet and outlet fittings.
5. Remove glovebox with under cover, then the glove box cover and reinforcement.
6. Remove EFI and ESC computer.
7. Disconnect electrical connectors at A/C switch and blower resistor.
8. Remove cooling unit.
9. Remove thermistor attaching screw and the thermistor.
Suction And Liquid Tubes:
10. Remove clamps and screws, then the lower case.
11. Remove upper case.
12. Remove heat insulator and clamp from outlet tube.
13. Disconnect liquid line tube from expansion valve inlet fitting.
14. Disconnect expansion valve from inlet fitting of evaporator.
15. If necessary, remove pressure switch.
16. Reverse procedure to install, then evacuate and recharge system and check for leaks. If evaporator is replaced, add 1.4 to 1.7 oz. of new refrigerant oil to compressor.
