Expansion Valve: Service and Repair
1. Disconnect battery ground cable and discharge system refrigerant.
2. Disconnect refrigerant lines at cooling unit, capping all openings.
3. Remove grommets from inlet and outlet fittings.
4. Remove glovebox, lower instrument panel cover and the side air duct.
5. Disconnect five electrical connectors.
6. Remove three nuts and four bolts securing cooling unit, then remove cooling unit.
7. Remove amplifier.
8. Remove A/C wiring harness from cooling unit.
9. Remove four clamps and four screws securing lower case, then remove lower case.
10. Remove two screws securing upper case, then remove upper case from evaporator.
11. Remove heat insulator and the clamp from the outlet tube.
12. Disconnect liquid line tube from inlet fitting of expansion valve.
13. Disconnect expansion valve from inlet fitting of evaporator.
14. Reverse procedure to install, then evacuate and discharge system and check for leaks. If evaporator is replaced, add .7 to 1.2 oz. of new refrigerant oil to compressor.
