Removal

REMOVAL OF TRANSAXLE




1. REMOVE NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
2. REMOVE AIR CLEANER
3. DISCONNECT NEUTRAL START SWITCH CONNECTOR

4. (A240L, A240E)
DISCONNECT SOLENOID VALVE CONNECTOR




5. (A240E/4A-GE)
DISCONNECT SPEED SENSOR CONNECTOR

6. DISCONNECT SPEEDOMETER CABLE
7. DISCONNECT THROTTLE CABLE FROM THROTTLE LINKAGE




8. DISCONNECT CONTROL CABLE
a. Remove the clip.
b. Remove the retainer.
c. Remove the control cable bracket




9. DISCONNECT OIL COOLER HOSE




10. REMOVE WATER INLET
11. RAISE VEHICLE AND DRAIN TRANSAXLE
12. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER




13. REMOVE FRONT AND REAR MOUNTING BOLTS
a. Remove the two dust covers from the member.
b. Remove the four bolts.




14. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING CENTER MEMBER
a. Remove the four bolts.
b. Remove the center member.

REMOVE EXHAUST FRONT PIPE

16. REMOVE LH DRIVE SHAFT
17. REMOVE STARTER MOTOR




18. (A240E/4A-GE)
REMOVE STIFFENER PLATE

19. REMOVE ENGINE REAR END PLATE




20. REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER MOUNTING BOLTS
a. Turn the crankshaft to gain access to each bolt.
b. Hold the crankshaft pulley bolt with a wrench.
c. Remove the six bolts.




21. REMOVE ENGINE REAR MOUNTING BOLTS
a. Hold the engine and transaxle with two jacks, or a chain block and jack.
b. Remove the three engine rear mounting bolts.




22. REMOVE TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY
a. Lower the rear end of the transaxle, remove the transaxle housing mounting bolts.
b. Remove the transaxle from the engine.

23. REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER FROM TRANSAXLE
