W/4A-C Engines
1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove engine hood.
2. Drain engine oil and engine coolant.
3. Remove air cleaner assembly, then the coolant reservoir tank.
4. Disconnect radiator fan electrical connector, then remove radiator hoses.
5. Remove radiator attaching bolts, then the radiator and shroud as an assembly.
6. Disconnect actuator cable, accelerator cable and throttle cable from carburetor.
7. Disconnect and mark all electrical connectors and vacuum hoses from engine.
8. Disconnect fuel hoses and fuel pump, then the coolant hoses.
9. On models equipped with power steering remove power steering pump and position aside. Do not disconnect power steering pump hoses.
10. On models equipped with A/C, remove compressor attaching bolts, then the compressor and position aside. Do not disconnect refrigerant lines.
11. On all models, disconnect speedometer cable from transaxle.
12. On models equipped with manual transaxle, remove clutch release cylinder attaching bracket, then the clutch release cylinder. Do not disconnect clutch release cylinder pipe and hose.
13. On all models, remove control cable clip and washers, then disconnect control cable from the shift outer lever and select outer lever.
14. Raise and support vehicle, then disconnect exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold.
15. Remove front and rear engine mount attaching bolts, then engine crossmember from body.
16. Remove six driveshaft to side gear shaft attaching nuts while depressing brake pedal, then disconnect driveshafts.
17. Lower vehicle, then attach engine hoist to engine lift brackets. Ensure engine harness is on front side of chain.
18. Remove right and left side engine mount through bolts, then the left side engine mount from transaxle.
19. Remove left side engine mount bracket from transaxle.
20. Lift engine and transaxle from vehicle.
21. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque driveshaft to side gear shaft attaching nuts to 27 ft. lbs.
b. Torque crossmember to body attaching nuts to 29 ft. lbs.
c. Torque front and rear engine mount attaching nuts to 46 ft. lbs.
