Brake Rotor/Disc: Service and Repair

Removal

Disc Brake Assembly:

1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove front wheel.

Remove Brake Caliper:

3. Remove the two installation bolts from the torque plate.

Suspend Caliper Assembly:

4. Remove the brake pad/caliper assembly and suspend it so the hose is not stretched. Do not disconnect the brake hose.

Torque Plate Mount Bolts:

5. Remove the torque plate from the steering knuckle.
6. Remove the brake rotor from the axle hub.

Installation

1. Install the brake rotor on the axle hub.

Torque Plate Mount Bolts:

2. Install torque plate. Torque mount bolts to 88 Nm (65 ft.lbs).

Torque Caliper Mount Bolts:

3. Install the brake pad/caliper assembly and torque the mount bolts to 25Nm (18 ft.lbs).
4. Install front wheel.
5. lower vehicle.
