Accelerator Pump: Testing and Inspection
NOTE: Refer to Fig. 120, AAP Temperature & Operation.Fig.120 - AAP Temperature & Operation Chart:
Low Temperature Point
1. Remove top from air cleaner. Start engine.
2. Close the AAP vacuum line by pinching.
3. Shut off engine. Release AAP vacuum line. Fuel should flow from venturi discharge tube.
High Temperature Point
1. With engine running at normal operating temperature, repeat Steps 1 through 3 as in low temperature test. Fuel should not flow from venturi discharge tube. If system is not functioning properly, continue to AAP diaphragm test.
AAP Diaphragm Test
1. With engine running, disconnect AAP vacuum line from ported vacuum switch.
2. Bypassing ported vacuum switch, apply and remove direct manifold vacuum to AAP several times. Engine speed should change with application of vacuum. If not, diaphragm is defective. If diaphragm checks good, test ported vacuum switch, (refer to TVSV and BVSV under Air Injection).
