Disassembly

1. Loosen pivot retaining screw and remove fuel metering needle, Fig. 3.
2. Disconnect fast idle link from choke lever, remove air horn screws, then separate air horn and place assembly next to carburetor body.
3. Loosen and remove fuel cut solenoid by rotating carburetor body to complete air horn removal.
4. Remove float hinge pin, the float and needle valve assembly, then the needle valve seat.
5. Loosen power valve piston retainer screw, hold piston and rotate retainer, then remove power valve piston and spring.
6. Remove outer vent control valve from air horn.
7. Remove dashpot and bracket from carburetor body, if equipped.
8. Remove slow jet, power valve assembly, metering rod guide and secondary main jet, primary main jet plug and the primary main jet and seal. Record stamped markings and installation position of calibrated components as they are removed to ensure proper assembly.
9. Evenly loosen screws securing accelerator pump housing, then remove pump housing, diaphragm and spring.
10. Evenly loosen screws securing Auxiliary Accelerator Pump (AAP) housing, then remove housing, diaphragm and spring.
11. Remove hot idle compensator cover and gasket and the thermostatic valve and seal, if equipped.
12. Disconnect idle up diaphragm link from throttle lever, then remove diaphragm assembly.
13. Disconnect choke opener diaphragm link, if equipped, then remove diaphragm assembly.
14. Remove throttle body retaining screws, then separate throttle body from carburetor.
15. Remove idle mixture screw concealment plug, rotate mixture screw clockwise until lightly seated recording number of turns necessary, then remove idle mixture screw.
