INPUT SHAFT ASSY (R155/R155F)

OVERHAUL





1. REMOVE SYNCHRONIZER RING NO.2
a. Remove synchronizer ring No.2 from the input shaft.





2. REMOVE INPUT SHAFT BEARING
a. Remove the input shaft bearing from the input shaft.





3. REMOVE FRONT BEARING SHAFT SNAP RING
a. Using a snap ring expander, remove the front bearing shaft snap ring from the input shaft.





4. REMOVE INPUT SHAFT FRONT BEARING
a. Using SST and a press, remove the input shaft front bearing FR from the input shaft.

5. INSPECT SYNCHRONIZER RING NO.2
a. Apply gear oil to the cone of the input shaft, and check that it does not turn in the both directions while pushing the synchronizer ring No.2.





b. Check the clearance between the synchronizer ring No.2 and input shaft while pushing the synchronizer ring No.2 to the cone of the input shaft.
Standard clearance: 0.70 to 1.70 mm (0.0276 to 0.0669 inch)
If the clearance is not within the specified values, replace synchronizer ring No.2 with a new one.





6. INSTALL INPUT SHAFT FRONT BEARING
a. Using SST and a press, install a new input shaft front bearing FR onto the input shaft.
SST 09950-60010 (09951-00570), 09950-70010 (09951-07100)

NOTICE: Install the input shaft front bearing with the snap ring groove facing to the front.





7. INSTALL FRONT BEARING SHAFT SNAP RING
a. Select the correct input shaft front bearing snap ring so that the clearance between the input shaft and input shaft front bearing is within the specified values.





Standard clearance: 0.1 mm (0.0039 inch) or less





8. INSTALL INPUT SHAFT BEARING
a. Apply gear oil to the input shaft bearing and install it onto the input shaft.





9. INSTALL SYNCHRONIZER RING NO.2
a. Apply gear oil to synchronizer ring No.2, and install it onto the input shaft.
