Seat (Bench Seat Type)
OVERHAULCAUTION: Wear protective gloves. Sharp surfaces on the front seat back spring and front seat cushion spring could cause injuries to your hands.
1. PRECAUTION
Refer to Air Bag Systems; Service Precautions.
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
3. REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY
a. Disengage the lock button of the front seat headrest support and remove the front seat headrest.
HINT: Follow the same procedures as for the opposite side.
4. REMOVE SEAT ASSEMBLY
a. Disconnect the 6 connectors.
b. Using a clip remover, remove the 4 wire harness clamps.
c. Remove the 2 wire harness clamps.
d. Remove the 4 bolts, then remove the seat.
5. REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY
a. Disengage the lock button of the front seat headrest support and remove the front seat headrest.
6. REMOVE FRONT SEAT HINGE COVER LH
a. Remove the 2 screws and front seat hinge cover.
7. REMOVE FRONT SEAT HINGE COVER RH
HINT: Follow the same procedures as for the front seat hinge cover LH.
8. REMOVE FRONT SEAT BACK ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 4 bolts and front seat back.
9. REMOVE REAR SEAT SHOULDER BELT GUIDE LH
a. Remove the 2 screws and rear seat shoulder belt guide.
10. REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST SUPPORT
a. Undo the 4 Velcro(R) and open the front seat back cover.
b. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the front seat headrest support.
HINT: Follow the same procedures as for the opposite side.
11. REMOVE BENCH TYPE FRONT SEAT BACK SPRING ASSEMBLY
a. Undo the 2 velcro(R).
b. Disengage the 3 hooks.
c. Remove the front seat back spring from the front seat back pad.
12. REMOVE SEAT TRACK CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 3 wiring harness clamps.
b. Disconnect the seat track control cable from the front seat back spring.
13. REMOVE BENCH TYPE FRONT SEAT BACK COVER
a. Remove the 4 hog rings and 4 wires.
b. Remove the 4 hog rings and front seat back cover.
14. REMOVE FRONT INNER SEAT TRACK BRACKET LOWER FRONT LH
a. Remove the nut and front seat inner seat track bracket lower front.
15. REMOVE FRONT INNER SEAT TRACK BRACKET LOWER FRONT RH
HINT: Follow the same procedures as for the front seat inner seat track bracket lower front LH.
16. REMOVE LH SEAT FRONT SEAT TRACK BRACKET
a. Remove the 2 nuts and seat front seat track bracket.
17. REMOVE RH SEAT FRONT SEAT TRACK BRACKET
HINT: Follow the same procedures as for the LH seat front seat track bracket.
18. REMOVE FRONT SEAT TRACK ASSEMBLY OUTER LH
a. Using a Torx(R) socket wrench T30, remove the 4 bolts and front seat track outer.
19. REMOVE FRONT SEAT TRACK ASSEMBLY OUTER RH
HINT: Follow the same procedures as for the front seat track outer LH.
20. REMOVE BENCH TYPE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SPRING ASSEMBLY
a. Disconnect the belt warning occupant detection sensor connector.
b. Using a clip remover, remove the connector clamp.
c. Remove the 4 hog rings.
d. Disengage the 10 hooks.
e. Remove the front seat cushion spring.
21. REMOVE SEAT POSITION AIR BAG SENSOR
a. Disconnect the seat position air bag sensor connector.
b. Using a Torx(R) socket wrench T30, remove the screw and seat position air bag sensor.
22. REMOVE SEAT TRACK COVER SPRING
a. Remove the 2 seat track cover springs from the front seat cushion spring.
23. REMOVE SEAT TRACK CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 4 wiring harness clamps.
b. Disconnect the seat track control cable from 2 seat track handles.
24. REMOVE SEAT TRACK LH HANDLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the nut, then remove the seat track handle.
25. REMOVE SEAT TRACK RH HANDLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the nut, then remove the seat track handle.
26. REMOVE SEAT WIRE NO.1
a. Remove the 3 wiring harness clamps.
b. Using a clip remover, remove the 2 wire harness clamps and 6 connector clamps.
c. Remove the 2 wire harness clamps.
27. REMOVE BENCH TYPE FRONT SEAT CUSHION COVER
a. Remove the 2 hog rings and 2 wires.
b. Remove the 12 hog rings and front seat cushion cover.
28. REMOVE BELT WARNING OCCUPANT DETECTION SENSOR
a. Remove the belt warning occupant detection sensor from the front seat cushion pad.
29. INSTALL BELT WARNING OCCUPANT DETECTION SENSOR
a. Remove the backing paper from a new belt warning occupant detection sensor, and then firmly attach the belt warning occupant detection sensor to the front seat cushion pad, aligned with the scribed line 1 on the upper surface of the front seat cushion pad.
b. After attaching it, confirm that the scribed line 2 are visible.
30. INSTALL BENCH TYPE FRONT SEAT CUSHION COVER
a. Using hog ring pliers, install the front seat cushion cover with new hog rings.
NOTE:
- Do not contaminate or scratch the front seat cushion cover.
- When installing the hog rings, minimize wrinkles as far as possible.
b. Install the 2 wires into the front seat cushion cover.
c. Using hog ring pliers, install new hog rings.
31. INSTALL SEAT WIRE NO.1
a. Install the 2 wire harness clamps and 6 connector clamps.
b. Install 3 new wiring harness clamps.
c. Cut each wiring harness clamp 3 to 10 mm (0.118 to 0.394 in.) from the stopper, as shown in the illustration.
32. INSTALL SEAT TRACK RH HANDLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Apply grease to the seat track handle as shown in the illustration.
b. Install the seat track handle with the nut.
Torque: 14 N.m (145 kgf.cm, 10 ft.lbf)
33. INSTALL SEAT TRACK LH HANDLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Apply grease to the seat track handle as shown in the illustration.
b. Install the seat track handle with the nut.
Torque: 14 N.m (145 kgf.cm, 10 ft.lbf)
34. INSTALL SEAT TRACK CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY
a. Connect the seat track control cable to the 2 seat track handles.
b. Install 4 new wiring harness clamps.
c. Cut each wiring harness clamp 3 to 10 mm (0.118 to 0.394 in.) from the stopper, as shown in the illustration.
35. INSTALL SEAT TRACK COVER SPRING
a. Hook the 2 seat track cover springs to the front seat cushion spring.
36. INSTALL SEAT POSITION AIR BAG SENSOR
a. Temporarily install the seat position air bag sensor.
b. Install a 1 mm (0.04 in.) feeler gauge between the slide rail and seat position air bag sensor as shown in the illustration.
NOTE:
- If the seat position air bag sensor has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case, bracket or connector, replace the seat position air bag sensor with a new one.
- When installing the seat position air bag sensor, make sure that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and is not pinched between other parts.
HINT: Make sure that the clearance between the seat position air bag sensor and seat rail is within 0.6 to 2 mm (0.023 to 0.079 in.).
c. Push the top of the seat position air bag sensor. While holding the seat position air bag sensor, tighten the seat position air bag sensor using a Torx(R) socket wrench T30.
Torque: 8.0 N.m (80 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf)
37. INSTALL BENCH TYPE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SPRING ASSEMBLY
a. Install the front seat cushion spring into the front seat cushion pad.
b. Engage the 10 hooks and install the front seat cushion spring.
c. Install new hog rings.
d. Install the connector clamp.
e. Connect the belt warning occupant detection sensor connector.
38. INSTALL FRONT SEAT TRACK ASSEMBLY OUTER LH
a. Using a Torx(R) socket wrench T30, install the front seat track outer with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 20 N.m (205 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf)
39. INSTALL FRONT SEAT TRACK ASSEMBLY OUTER RH
HINT: Follow the same procedures as for the front seat track outer LH.
40. INSTALL LH SEAT FRONT SEAT TRACK BRACKET
a. Install the seat front seat track bracket with the 2 nuts.
Torque: 32 N.m (325 kgf.cm, 24 ft.lbf)
41. INSTALL RH SEAT FRONT SEAT TRACK BRACKET
HINT: Follow the same procedures as for the LH seat front seat track bracket.
42. INSTALL FRONT INNER SEAT TRACK BRACKET LOWER FRONT LH
a. Install the front inner seat track bracket lower front with the nut.
Torque: 32 N.m (325 kgf.cm, 24 ft.lbf)
43. INSTALL FRONT INNER SEAT TRACK BRACKET LOWER FRONT RH
HINT: Follow the same procedures as for the front inner seat track bracket lower front.
44. INSTALL BENCH TYPE FRONT SEAT BACK COVER
a. Using hog ring pliers, install the front seat back cover with new hog rings.
NOTE:
- Do not contaminate or scratch the front seat back cover.
- When installing the hog rings, minimize wrinkles as far as possible.
b. Install the 4 wires into the front seat back cover.
c. Using hog ring pliers, install new hog rings.
45. INSTALL SEAT TRACK CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY
a. Connect the seat track control cable to the 2 seat track handles.
b. Install 3 new wiring harness clamps.
c. Cut each wiring harness clamp 5 to 10 mm (0.197 to 0.394 in.) from the stopper, as shown in the illustration.
46. INSTALL BENCH TYPE FRONT SEAT BACK SPRING ASSEMBLY
a. Install the front seat back spring into the front seat cushion pad.
b. Engage the 3 hooks and install the front seat back spring.
c. Engage the 2 Velcro(R).
47. INSTALL FRONT SEAT HEADREST SUPPORT
a. Engage the 2 claws and install the front seat headrest support.
HINT: Follow the same procedures as for the opposite side.
b. Engage the 4 Velcro(R) and close the front seat back cover.
48. INSTALL REAR SEAT SHOULDER BELT GUIDE LH
a. Install the rear seat shoulder belt guide with the 2 screws.
49. INSTALL FRONT SEAT BACK ASSEMBLY
a. Install the front seat back with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)
50. INSTALL FRONT SEAT HINGE COVER LH
a. Install the front seat hinge cover with the 2 screws.
51. INSTALL FRONT SEAT HINGE COVER RH
HINT: Follow the same procedures as for the front seat hinge cover LH.
52. INSTALL FRONT SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY
a. Disengage the lock button of the front seat headrest support and install the front seat headrest.
53. INSTALL SEAT ASSEMBLY
a. Place the front seat in the cabin.
b. Tighten the 2 bolts on the front side of the front seat.
Torque: 37 N.m (375 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf)
c. Tighten the 2 bolts on the rear side of the front seat.
Torque: 37 N.m (375 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf)
d. Install the 6 wire harness clamps.
e. Connect the 6 connectors.
54. INSTALL FRONT SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY
a. Disengage the lock button of the front seat headrest support and install the front seat headrest.
HINT: Follow the same procedures as for the opposite side.
55. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
Torque: 3.9 N.m (40 kgf.cm, 35 in.lbf)
56. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
