Front Seat Assy LH (Separate Seat Type)

OVERHAUL

CAUTION: Wear protective gloves. Sharp surface on the front seat with adjuster frame could cause injuries to your hands.

1. PRECAUTION
Refer to Air Bag Systems; Service Precautions.
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
Wait for at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the air bag from working (w/ side air bag).




3. REMOVE SEAT TRACK COVER LH
a. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the seat track cover.

HINT: Follow the same procedures as for the opposite side.




4. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH
a. Disconnect the 2 connectors.
b. Disconnect the connector (w/ side air bag).
c. Using a clip remover, remove the wire harness clamp.




d. Remove the 4 bolts and front seat.




5. REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY
a. Disengage the lock button of the front seat headrest support and remove the front seat headrest.




6. REMOVE LUMBAR ADJUSTER DIAL LH (W/ LUMBAR SUPPORT)
a. Pull the lumbar adjuster dial outward.




7. REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER RELEASE HANDLE LH
a. Using a screwdriver with its tip taped in protective tape, disengage the claw and remove the reclining adjuster release handle.




8. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD LH
a. Remove the screw.
b. Disengage the 2 claws and clip, and remove the front seat cushion shield.

9. REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY LH




10. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD INNER LH
a. Remove the screw.
b. Disengage the claw and clip, and remove the front seat cushion shield inner.




11. REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST SUPPORT
a. Using a clip remover, remove the connector clamp (w/ side air bag).
b. Remove the wire harness clamp (w/ side air bag).
c. Remove the 5 hog rings.







d. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the front seat headrest support.

HINT: Follow the same procedures as for the opposite side.




12. REMOVE SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT BACK COVER
a. Remove the 2 hog rings.
b. Remove the 2 wires.
c. Remove the nut and strap (w/ side air bag).
d. Remove the 2 hog rings and front seat back cover.
e. Remove the front seat back pad from the front seat with adjuster frame.




13. REMOVE SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT CUSHION COVER
a. Remove the front seat cushion cover from the front seat with adjuster frame.
b. Remove the 2 hog rings.
c. Disengage the 2 claws and 3 hooks, and remove the front seat cushion pad together with the front seat cushion cover.




d. Remove the 10 hog rings and front seat cushion cover.




14. REMOVE LUMBAR SUPPORT ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY LH (W/ LUMBAR SUPPORT)
a. Remove the 2 wiring harness clamps.
b. Remove the 2 screws
c. Disengage the 10 hooks and lumbar support adjuster.




15. REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER INSIDE COVER LH
a. Remove the screw.
b. Disengage the claw and remove the reclining adjuster inside cover.

16. REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER INSIDE COVER RH

HINT: Follow the same procedures as for the reclining adjuster inside cover LH.




17. REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER INSIDE COVER LH
a. Remove the screw and reclining adjuster inside cover.

18. REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER INSIDE COVER RH

HINT: Follow the same procedures as for the reclining adjuster inside cover LH.




19. REMOVE SEAT POSITION AIR BAG SENSOR
a. Using a Torx(R) socket wrench T30, remove the screw and seat position air bag sensor.




20. INSTALL SEAT POSITION AIR BAG SENSOR
a. Temporarily install the seat position air bag sensor.
b. Install a 1 mm (0.04 in.) feeler gauge between the slide rail and seat position air bag sensor as shown in the illustration.

NOTE:
- If the seat position air bag sensor has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case, bracket or connector, replace the seat position air bag sensor with a new one.
- When installing the seat position air bag sensor, make sure that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and is not pinched between other parts.

HINT: Make sure that the clearance between the seat position air bag sensor and seat rail is within 0.6 to 2 mm (0.023 to 0.079 in.).

c. Push the top of the seat position air bag sensor. While holding the seat position air bag sensor, tighten the seat position air bag sensor using a Torx(R) socket wrench T30.

Torque: 8.0 N.m (80 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf)




21. INSTALL RECLINING ADJUSTER INSIDE COVER LH
a. Install the reclining adjuster inside cover with the screw.

22. INSTALL RECLINING ADJUSTER INSIDE COVER RH

HINT: Follow the same procedures as for the reclining adjuster inside cover LH.




23. INSTALL RECLINING ADJUSTER INSIDE COVER LH
a. Engage the claw and install the reclining adjuster inside cover.
b. Tighten the screw.

24. INSTALL RECLINING ADJUSTER INSIDE COVER RH

HINT: Follow the same procedures as for the reclining adjuster inside cover LH.




25. INSTALL LUMBAR SUPPORT ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY LH (W/ LUMBAR SUPPORT)
a. Hook the 10 hooks.
b. Install the lumbar support adjuster with the 2 screws.
c. Install 2 new wiring harness clamps.
d. Cut each wiring harness clamp 5 to 10 mm (0.197 to 0.394 in.) from the stopper, as shown in the illustration.







26. INSTALL SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT CUSHION COVER
a. Using hog ring pliers, install the front seat cushion cover with new hog rings.

NOTE:
- Do not contaminate or scratch the front seat cushion cover.
- When installing the hog rings, minimize wrinkles as far as possible.




b. Engage the 3 hooks and 2 claws, and install the front seat cushion pad together with the front seat cushion cover.
c. Using hog ring pliers, install new hog rings.
d. Hook the front seat cushion cover to the front seat with adjuster frame.




27. INSTALL SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT BACK COVER

NOTE:
- Do not contaminate or scratch the front seat back cover.
- When installing the hog rings, minimize wrinkles as far as possible.

a. Install the front seat back pad onto the front seat with adjuster frame.




b. Using hog ring pliers, install the front seat back cover with new hog rings.
c. Attach strap and tighten the nut (w/ side air bag).

Torque: 5.5 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf)

NOTE:
- For vehicles with side air bag, the front seat back cover must be securely installed. Otherwise, the side air bag may not deploy properly.
- Make sure that the strap is not twisted after installing the inner hook.
- Install the inner hook securely.




d. Roll the front seat back cover down and install the 2 wires.
e. Using hog ring pliers, install new hog rings.




28. INSTALL FRONT SEAT HEADREST SUPPORT
a. Engage the 2 claws and install the front seat headrest support.

HINT: Follow the same procedures as for the opposite side.




b. Using hog ring pliers, install the new hog rings.
c. Install the wire harness clamp and connector clamp.




29. INSTALL FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD INNER LH
a. Engage the claw and clip, and install the front seat cushion shield inner.
b. Tighten the screw.

30. INSTALL FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY LH




31. INSTALL FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD LH
a. Engage the 2 claws and clip, and install the front seat cushion shield.
b. Tighten the screw.




32. INSTALL RECLINING ADJUSTER RELEASE HANDLE LH
a. Engage the claw and install the reclining adjuster release handle.




33. INSTALL LUMBAR ADJUSTER DIAL LH (W/ LUMBAR SUPPORT)
a. Line up the lumbar adjuster dial and push in it to engage.




34. INSTALL FRONT SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY
a. Disengage the lock button of the front seat headrest support and install the front seat headrest.




35. INSTALL FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH
a. Place the front seat in the cabin.
b. Tighten the 2 bolts on the front side of the front seat.

Torque: 37 N.m (375 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf)

c. Tighten the 2 bolts on the rear side of the front seat.

Torque: 37 N.m (375 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf)




d. Install the wire harness clamp.
e. Connect the 2 connectors.
f. Connect the connector (w/ side air bag).




36. INSTALL SEAT TRACK COVER LH
a. Engage the 2 claws and install the seat track cover.

HINT: Follow the same procedures as for the opposite side.

37. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

Torque: 3.9 N.m (40 kgf.cm, 35 in.lbf)

38. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
