Valve Body: Service and Repair
TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSY (A750E/A750F)REPLACEMENT
CAUTION: When working with FIPG material, you must observe the following guidelines.
^ Using a razor blade and gasket scraper, remove all the old FIPG material from the gasket surfaces.
^ Thoroughly clean all components to remove all loose material.
^ Clean both sealing surfaces with a non-residue solvent.
^ Apply FIPG in an approximately 1 mm (0.04 inch) wide bead along the sealing surface.
^ Parts must be assembled within 10 minutes of application. Otherwise, the FIPG material must be removed and reapplied.
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
2. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID
a. Remove the drain plug, gasket and drain ATF.
b. Install a new gasket and drain plug.
Torque: 28 Nm (285 kgf-cm, 21 ft. lbs.)
3. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OIL PAN SUB-ASSY
NOTICE: Some fluid will remain in the oil pan.
a. Remove the 20 bolts, gasket and oil pan sub-assembly.
b. Examine the particles in the pan.
(1) Remove the magnets and use them to collect steel particles. Carefully inspect the foreign matter and particles in the pan and on the magnets to anticipate the type of wear you will find in the transmission.
Steel (magnetic) ... bearing, gear and clutch plate wear
Brass (non-magnetic) ... bushing wear
4. REMOVE VALVE BODY OIL STRAINER ASSY
a. Remove the 4 bolts, oil strainer and O-ring.
NOTICE: Be careful as some fluid will come out of the oil strainer.
5. SEPARATE TRANSMISSION WIRE
a. Remove the bolt and clamp.
b. Disconnect the ATF temperature sensor.
c. Disconnect the 7 connectors from the solenoid valves.
6. REMOVE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSY
a. Remove the 19 bolts and valve body.
b. Remove the 3 drum seal gaskets.
c. Remove the bolt, lock plate, pin and shift solenoid valves SLT and SL1.
d. Remove the bolt, lock plate, pin and shift solenoid valves SLU and SL2.
e. Remove the 2 bolts and shift solenoid valve SR.
f. Remove the bolt and shift solenoid valve S1.
g. Remove the bolt and shift solenoid valve S2.
7. INSTALL TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSY
a. Install the shift solenoid valve S2 with the bolt.
Torque: 10 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 7 ft. lbs.)
b. Install the shift solenoid valve S1 with the bolt.
Torque: 6.4 Nm (65 kgf-cm, 56 inch lbs.)
c. Install the shift solenoid valve SO with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 6.4 Nm (65 kgf-cm, 56 inch lbs.)
d. Install the shift solenoid valves SLU and SL2 with the pin, lock plate and bolt.
Torque: 6.4 Nm (65 kgf-cm, 56 inch lbs.)
e. Install the shift solenoid valves SLT and SL1 with the pin, lock plate and bolt.
Torque: 6.4 Nm (65 kgf-cm, 56 inch lbs.)
f. Insert the pin of the lever into the hole of the manual valve.
g. Install 3 new drum seal gaskets onto the transmission case.
h. Install the 19 bolts.
Torque: 11 Nm (110 kgf-cm, 8 ft. lbs.)
Bolt length:
Bolt A: 36 mm (1.42 inch)
Bolt B: 25 mm (0.98 inch)
8. INSTALL TRANSMISSION WIRE
a. Connect the 7 connectors to the solenoid valves.
b. Install the clamp with the bolt.
Torque:
A: 10 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 7 inch lbs.)
B: 11 Nm (110 kgf-cm, 8 inch lbs.)
c. Connect the ATF temperature sensor.
Wiring color: a: Orange b: Blue
9. INSTALL VALVE BODY OIL STRAINER ASSY
a. Install a new O-ring and the oil strainer with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 10 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 7 ft. lbs.)
10. INSTALL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OIL PAN SUB-ASSY
HINT: Remove all packing material and be careful not to drop oil on the contact surfaces of the transmission case and oil pan.
a. Install a new gasket and the oil pan sub-assembly.
b. Install the oil pan with the 20 bolts.
Torque: 4.4 Nm (45 kgf-cm, 39 inch lbs.)
11. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
Torque: 3.9 Nm (40 kgf-cm, 35 inch lbs.)
12. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
13. ADD AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID
14. INSPECT AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID
