INTRODUCTION:
Some 2004 and 2005 model year vehicles equipped with the A750 ATM may experience an intermittent M.I.L. "ON" condition with DTC P2742 (Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor "B" Circuit Low). Replacement of the transmission wire harness will eliminate the condition.

APPLICABLE VEHICLES:
- 2004 model year 4Runner (V8) vehicles equipped with the A750 automatic transmission.
- 2005 model year 4Runner, Sequoia, Tacoma (V6), and Tundra vehicles equipped with the A750 automatic transmission.

REQUIRED SSTs:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. To start diagnosis of the vehicle for DTC P2742, refer to ETAS, applicable model and model year Repair Manual: Diagnostics: Automatic Transmission (A750): P2740, P2742 or P2743.
2. Monitor transmission fluid temperature sensor No. 2 during diagnosis and watch for a short circuit to intermittently occur.

NOTE:
If a short circuit is occurring, the transmission fluid temperature sensor No. 2 will read 302°F (150°C).


3. If no cause for the short circuit is found following the Repair Manual diagnosis, refer to the following sections on ETAS to replace the transmission wire harness (P/N 82125--351#0).
- 2004 -- 2005 model year 4Runner Repair Manual: Automatic Transmission / Trans: Transmission Wire (A750E/A750F): Replacement.
- 2004 -- 2005 model year Land Cruiser Repair Manual: Automatic Transmission: ATF Temperature Sensor: On--Vehicle Repair.
- 2005 model year Sequoia Repair Manual: Automatic Transmission (A750E, A750F): ATF Temperature Sensor: On--Vehicle Repair.
- 2005 model year Tacoma Repair Manual: Automatic Transmission / Trans: Transmission Wire (A750E/A750F): Replacement.
- 2005 model year Tundra Repair Manual: Automatic Transmission (A750E, A750F): ATF Temperature Sensor: On--Vehicle Repair.

4. Adjust fluid to proper level.
- Refer to ETAS, applicable model and model year Repair Manual, to properly adjust fluid level.

5. Test drive vehicle after replacement of transmission wire harness to confirm repair effectiveness.
