Applicability

Introduction

Some 4Runner vehicles may exhibit a condition where the HVAC control panel illumination is dim flickering or intermittently inoperative. A newly designed light bulb has been made available to resolve this concern.

This TSB applies to vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown.





Warranty Information

APPLICABLE WARRANTY

^ This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

^ Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in this bulletin.

Repair Procedure





1. Confirm that the customer's concern is of a dim, flickering, or intermittently inoperative HVAC illumination panel in the area shown in Figure 1.

2. Remove the air conditioning control assembly.





Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), applicable model year 4Runner Repair Manual:





3. Replace the 2 light bulbs for the HVAC control panel illumination circuit. (Refer to Figure 2.)

Using a small flat blade screwdriver turn the light bulbs counter clockwise to remove and clockwise to install/tighten.

4. Install the air conditioning control assembly.

5. Confirm the HVAC Control Panel Illumination and Controls are operating correctly.
