Leak Detection Solenoid: Testing and Inspection


INSPECTION





1. REMOVE [1][2][3]VSV
(a) Disconnect the connector and 3 EVAP hoses from the VSV
(b) Remove the bolt and VSV.





2. INSPECT [1][2][3]VSV FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
Using an ohmmeter, check that there is continuity between the terminals.

Resistance:
37 - 44 ohms at 20°C (68°F)


If there is no continuity, replace the [1][2][3]VSV.





3. INSPECT [1][2][3]VSV FOR GROUND
Using an ohmmeter, check that there is no continuity between each terminal and the body.
If there is continuity, replace the [1][2][3]VSV.
4. INSPECT [1][2][3]VSV OPERATION





(a) Check that air flows from ports E to P and does not flow from ports E to F.





(b) Apply battery positive voltage across the terminals.
(c) Check that air flows from ports E to F and does not flow from ports E to P.
If operation is not as specified, replace the [1][2][3]VSV.
5. REINSTALL [1][2][3]VSV
