Power Door Lock Relay: Testing and Inspection

INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK CIRCUIT (Door Lock Control Relay)
a. Remove the instrument panel junction block.




b. Inspect the "A" connector on the instrument panel junction block side, as shown in the chart.




c. Disconnect the "B" connector from the instrument panel junction block and inspect the connectors on the wire harness side, as shown in the chart.
If circuit is as specified, try replacing the relay with a new one.
If circuit is not as specified, inspect the circuit connected to other parts.

Driver's door:

INSPECT DOOR LOCK SIGNAL

HINT:
When the instrument panel junction block circuit is as specified, inspect the door lock signal.

a. Connect the connector to the instrument panel junction block.




b. Connect the positive (+) lead from the voltmeter to terminal A23 and the negative (-) lead to terminal A10.
c. Set the door lock manual switch to the UNLOCK. and check that the voltage rises from 0 volt to battery voltage for approximately 0.2 seconds.




d. Reverse the polarity of the voltmeter leads.
e. Set the door lock manual switch to the LOCK, check that the voltage rises from 0 volt to battery voltage for approximately 0.2 seconds.
If operation is not as specified, replace the instrument panel junction block.

Passenger's door:

INSPECT DOOR LOCK SIGNAL

HINT:
When the instrument panel junction block circuit is as specified, inspect the door lock signal.

a. Connect the connector to the instrument panel junction block.




b. Connect the positive (+) lead from the voltmeter to terminal C2 and the negative (-) lead to terminal C1.
c. Set the door lock manual switch to the UNLOCK, and check that the voltage rises from 0 volt to battery voltage for approximately 0.2 seconds.




d. Reverse the polarity of the voltmeter leads.
e. Set the door lock manual switch to the LOCK, check that the voltage rises from 0 volt to battery voltage for approximately 0.2 seconds.
If operation is not as specified, replace the instrument panel junction block.

Back door:

INSPECT DOOR LOCK SIGNAL

HINT:
When the instrument panel junction block circuit is as specified, inspect the door lock signal.

a. Remove the instrument panel junction block cover.




b. Connect the connector to the instrument panel junction block.
c. Connect the positive (+) lead from the voltmeter to terminal D2 and the negative (-) lead to terminal D1.
d. Set the door lock manual switch to the UNLOCK, and check that the voltage rises from 0 volt to battery voltage for approximately 0.2 seconds.




e. Reverse the polarity of the voltmeter leads.
f. Set the door lock manual switch to the LOCK check that the voltage rises from 0 volt to battery voltage approximately 0.2 seconds.
If operation is not as specified, replace the instrument panel junction block.







INSPECT POWER MAIN RELAY CONTINUITY
If continuity is not as specified, replace the relay.
