Subject:
DELAYED UPSHIFT TO OVERDRIVE CONTROL ENGAGED

A new cruise control computer has been developed for 1998 - 2000 MY RAV4's equipped with automatic transmission. While the cruise control is engaged, the new ECU improves the upshift delay from 3rd to 4th gear after the vehicle comes over the crest of a hill. To improve this condition, replace the cruise control ECU and inspect the cruise control actuator cable adjustment as shown in this bulletin.

APPLICABLE VEHICLES:
1998 - 2000 model year RAV4's with automatic transmissions equipped with cruise control.
