Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Testing and Inspection

INSPECTION

1. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT
2. REMOVE ECT SENSOR





(a) Disconnect the engine wire protector from the 3 brackets.





(b) Disconnect the ECT sensor connector.
(c) Using a 19 mm deep socket wrench, remove the ECT sensor and gasket.





3. INSPECT ECT SENSOR
Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.

Resistance: Refer to the chart graph

If the resistance is not as specified, replace the ECT sensor.
4. REINSTALL ECT SENSOR
(a) Using a 19 mm deep socket wrench, install the ECT sensor and gasket.

Torque: 25 N.m (250 kgf.cm, 18 ft.lbf)

(b) Connect the ECT sensor connector.
(c) Install the engine wire protector to the 3 brackets.
5. REFILL ENGINE COOLANT
