ABS Main Relay: Testing and Inspection

Inspect Continuity Of Motor Relay Circuit:





1. Inspect continuity of motor relay circuit.
(a) Check there is continuity between terminals 9 and 10.
(b) Check there is no continuity between terminals 7 and 8.
If continuity is not as specified, replace the relay.

Inspect Operation Of Motor Relay Circuit:





2. Inspect operation of motor relay circuit.
(a) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 10 and negative (-) lead to terminal 9.
(b) Check there is continuity between terminals 7 and 8. If operation is not as specified, replace the relay.

Inspect Continuity Of Solenoid Relay Circuit:





3. Inspect continuity of solenoid relay circuit.
(a) Check there is continuity between terminals 1 and 9.
(b) Check there is no continuity between terminals 2 and 5.





(c) Connect the positive (+) lead from the ohmmeter to terminal 4 and connect negative (-) lead to terminal 5.
(d) Check there is continuity between terminals.
(e) Connect the 2 leads in reverse, and check that there is no continuity between terminals.
If continuity is not as specified, replace the relay.

NOTE: For the different type ohmmeter, there is no continuity for step (d), and there is continuity for step (e).

Inspect Operation Of Solenoid Relay Circuit:





4. Inspect operation of solenoid relay circuit.
(a) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1 and negative (-) lead to terminal 9.
(b) Check there is continuity between terminals 2 and 5.
(c) Check there is no continuity between terminals 2 and 6.
If operation is not as specified, replace the relay.
