Speed Sensor Diagnostic System
CAUTION: While checking the speed sensor diagnosis system, Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) does not operate and brake system operates as normal brake system.INSPECTION
1. Inspect battery positive voltage.
Inspect that the battery positive voltage is 10 - 14 Volts.
2. Check that the warning light turns ON.
(a) Turn the ignition switch ON.
(b) Check the ABS warning light turns on for 3 seconds. If not inspect and repair or replace the fuse, bulb and wire harness.
(c) Check the ABS warning light turns off.
(d) Turn the ignition switch OFF.
3. Do following steps.
(a) Using Special Service Tool (SST) # 09843 - 18020, connect terminals Ts and E1 of the Data Link Connector (DLC)1.
(b) Start the engine.
(c) Check the warning light blinks about 4 times every 1 second.
(d) Stop the vehicle on a level place for more than 1 second.
4. Drive vehicle.
Drive the vehicle faster than 45 km/h (28 mph) for several seconds.
The warning light is off when it works normally.
5. Read Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC).
(a) Stop the vehicle and the warning light will begin to blink.
Read DTC (Part 1 Of 2):
(b) Using SST, connect the terminals Tc and E1 of DLC1.

Read DTC (Part 2 Of 2):
(c) Read the number of blinks of the ABS warning light.
NOTE: If normal, the warning light blinks about 2 times every 1 second.
Malfunction Code:
If 2 or more malfunctions are indicated at the same time, the smallest numbered code will be displayed 1st.
6. Repair malfunctioning parts.
Repair or replace the malfunctioning parts.
NOTE: When repairing or replacing parts, turn the ignition switch OFF.
7. Remove SST.
Remove the SST from terminals Tc, Ts and E1 of the DLC1.
