Removal and Installation


COMPRESSOR REMOVAL


Compressor:






1. RUN ENGINE AT IDLE SPEED WITH A/C ON FOR APPROX. 10 MINUTES WITH A/C ON


2. STOP ENGINE


3. DISCONNECT NEGATIVE (-) TERMINAL CABLE FROM BATTERY


4. DISCHARGE REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM


5. DISCONNECT SUCTION TUBE AND DISCHARGE TUBE


NOTE: Cap the open fitting immediately to keep moisture or dirt out of the system.

6. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER RIGHT SIDE


7. REMOVE DRIVE BELT
Drive Belt Tension/Replacement


8. REMOVE COMPRESSOR
a. Disconnect the connector.
b. Remove the nut and 2 bolts.
c. Remove the stud bolt and remove the compressor.


COMPRESSOR INSTALLATION


Compressor:






1. INSTALL COMPRESSOR
a. Install the compressor with the stud bolt.

Torque: 47 N.m (479 kg.cm, 34 ft.lb)

b. Install the nut and 2 bolts.

Torque:
Nut: 27 N.m (280 kg.cm, 20 ft.lb)
Bolts: 37 N.m (375 kg.cm. 27 ft.lb)

c. Connect the connector.

2. INSTALL DRIVE BELT AND CHECK DRIVE BELT


3. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER


4. CONNECT DISCHARGE HOSE AND SUCTION HOSE

Torque: 10 N.m (100 kg.cm. 7 ft.lb)


HINT: Lubricate 2 new O-rings with compressor oil and install the tubes.


5. EVACUATE AIR IN REFRIGERATION SYSTEM


6. CHARGE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM WITH REFRIGERANT AND CHECK FOR GAS LEAKAGE

Specified amount:
700 ± 50 g (24.69 ± 1.76 oz.)

Using a gas leak detector, check for leakage of refrigerant.

If there is leakage, check the tightening torque at the joints.

7. INSPECT A/C OPERATION
