NOTE: For vehicles with a differential lock, shift the rear differential to lock after removal then perform the following.
a. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
b. Keep the center differential lock condition.
c. Turn the differential lock control switch to the RR or FR/RR position and lock the rear differential then, while rotating the tires, check that they are in the differential lock condition.
d. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery.

1. Drain the differential oil.
2. Remove the rear axle shafts.
3. Remove the propeller shaft.





4. For vehicles w/ differential lock, remove actuator protector by removing the 2 nuts, bolt and protector.

Installation Note: Torque the nut to 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.) and the bolt to 20 Nm (14 ft. lbs.).

5. For vehicles w/ differential lock, disconnect the connectors and hose.





6. Remove the 10 nuts, washers and differential carrier assembly taking care not to damage the installation surface then remove the gasket.
7. Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

NOTE: After installation, fill the differential with differential oil.
