CYLINDER HEAD TIGHTENING SEQUENCE/SPECIFICATIONS




Cylinder Head Bolt Removal Sequence




Cylinder Head Bolt Tightening Sequence
Install and uniformly tighten the 10 cylinder head bolts and plate washers, in several passes, in the sequence shown.

1st Pass: Torque to 39 Nm (29 ft. lbs.)
- If any of the cylinder head bolts do not meet the torque specification, replace the cylinder head bolt.





NOTE: Before making 2nd pass, mark the front of the cylinder head bolt head with paint.

2nd Pass: Turn the head bolts an additional 90°.
3rd Pass: Turn the head bolts an additional 90°.

NOTE: Check that the painted mark is now facing rearward.





COMPONENT SPECIFICATIONS
Head To Timing Chain Cover: 21 Nm (15 ft. lbs.)
Rear Cover To Cylinder Head: 13.5 Nm (10 ft. lbs.)

Torque: 15.5 Nm (12 ft.lbf)

Camshaft Gear Tightening Torque
Timing Gear to Intake Camshaft 73.5 Nm (54 ft.lbf)

Intake/Exhaust Manifold Tightening Torque
Intake Manifold 29 Nm (22 ft.lbf)
Exhaust Manifold 49 Nm (36 ft.lbf)
