Technical Instruction For Calif. Diesel Turbo Trucks
(MODELS 8336/8366)Current Sensor Terminal:
I. Inspection
Inspect wire terminal at glow plug current sensor. If wire harness is touching or has clearance less than 3 mm to the engine hook, loosen the current sensor terminal retaining nut and align terminal wire AWAY from "Engine Hook" and retighten the retaining nut. Then start engine as follows:
NOTE: The glow plug current sensor terminal is located at left rear corner of cylinder head behind EGR valve and adjacent to the engine hook.
1) When the engine is cold turn ignition switch on, wait until glow plug indicator light goes out, then start engine with the accelerator pedal depressed half way. If engine starts in less than 2 seconds, glow plug system is O.K. Proceed III.. Final Inspection.
2) If engine does not start immediately (2 to 10 seconds), then follow procedure "II. Repairs".
II. Repairs
1) Check glow plug fusible link. (P/N: 90982-08203)
- Located in engine compartment, right front corner
Check Glow Plug Fusible Link:
- Located in engine compartment, right front corner
2) If fusible link is blown, replace as follows:
a) Disconnect negative (-) battery terminals from 2 batteries.
Fusible Link:
b) To remove fusible link (80 AMP) from fuse block, unlock the locking tabs and push down on fusible link and remove it from the bottom of fuse block together with wires.
Fusible Link Wire Terminals:
c) Disconnect the fusible link wire terminals by removing the retaining screws to replace glow plug fusible link.
d) Connect the fusible link wire terminals to the new glow plug fusible link using the same retaining screws. Reinstall fusible link to fuse block.
3) Reinstall battery negative (-) terminals on both batteries.
III. Final Inspection
1) After repair procedure is completed, restart engine.
a) Turn an ignition switch to "ON" position.
b) Wait until the glow plug indicator light goes out and listen for glow plug system relay "click" noise.
c) Start engine with the accelerator pedal depressed half way to confirm immediate starting function.

2. After final inspection, fill out and affix completion label to left side of engine firewall. (This completion label must be affixed upon completion before it is returned to customer.)

IV. Reimbursement
Submit (SC type) claim by using one of the following appropriate operation codes:
