P0118
WIRING DIAGRAM
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (ECT Sensor) Located at the side of thermostat case, this sensor measures the temperature of the engine coolant and convents its change into that in resistance through the thermistor like the air temperature sensor. That is, as coolant temperature lowers, resistance increases and as it rises, resistance decreases. By monitoring the resistance of the coolant temperature sensor, ECM detects the engine coolant temperature and that affects most systems under the control of ECM.
DETECTING CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE
NOTE: When DTC P0108, P0113, P0118, P0123 and/or P0450 are indicated together, it is possible that "Lg/B" circuit is open.
DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE
1. Clear DTC, start engine and keep it at idle for 1 min.
2. Select "DTC" mode on scan tool and check DTC.
