Shift Cable: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Remove console assembly, then the selector indicator assembly.
2. Disconnect selector cable from selector lever, floor and transaxle.
3. Raise and support vehicle.
4. Remove selector cable from front panel.
INSTALLATION
1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Position selector cable in front panel, then lower vehicle.
3. Apply suitable grease to selector cable pin, then connect cable to lever.
4. Install selector indicator, then the console assembly.
5. Connect cable to bracket on transaxle, then slide cable into manual select joint hole and position manual shift lever in Neutral range.

6. Turn nut "A", Fig. 6, by hand until it contacts manual select cable joint, then tighten nut "B" with wrench.
7. After tightening cable nuts, check the following:
a. With selector lever in Park position, vehicle cannot move when pushed.
b. With selector lever in Neutral position, vehicle cannot be driven.
c. With selector in Drive, Second or Low ranges, vehicle can be driven.
d. With selector lever in Reverse range, vehicle can be backed up.
