Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Testing and Inspection

WARNING: DO NOT SUCK nozzles on canister. Fuel vapor inside canister is harmful.


1. Disconnect vacuum hoses from canister.

2. Remove charcoal canister.

"Tank" Nozzle:

3. When air is blown into "TANK" nozzle, air should come out from "AIR" nozzle.

"Tank" Nozzle:

4. With "AIR" nozzle closed with finger, blow air hard into "TANK" nozzle, and air should come out of "PURGE" nozzle.

5. When air is blown into "PURGE" nozzle, no air should come out from other two nozzles.


If operation differs from above description, charcoal canister must be replaced.
