Canister Purge Solenoid: Testing and Inspection

WARNING: Do not suck the air through VSV. Fuel vapor inside VSV is harmful.


1. With ignition switch OFF, disconnect coupler from VSV.

2. Check resistance between two terminals of VSV.


RESISTANCE VALUE
33 - 39 ohms


If resistance is as specified, proceed to next operation check. If not, replace.

3. Remove VSV.

Checking EVAP VSV Operation:





4. Blow into nozzle "A". Air should not come out of nozzle "B".

Checking EVAP VSV Operation:





5. Connect 12V-battery to VSV terminals. In this state, blow nozzle "A".

Air should come out of nozzle "B".

If check result is not as described, replace VSV.

6. Install VSV and connect vacuum hoses. Refer to emission control information label for proper connection.

7. Connect VSV coupler securely.
