Water Pump: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then drain coolant system into appropriate container.
2. Remove timing belt as outlined under Timing Belt.

3. Remove timing belt inside cover (rear side) and water pump belt adjusting arm, Fig. 62.

4. Remove water pump assembly, Fig. 63.
5. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Use new gasket for water pump to cylinder block.
b. Tighten all bolts to specification.
c. Install rubber seal between water pump and oil pump and another between water pump and cylinder head, Fig. 63.
