Intake Manifold: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then drain coolant system into appropriate container.
2. Disconnect following hoses:
a. Disconnect AFM and PCV hoses.
b. Disconnect cylinder head breather and brake booster hoses.
c. On California models, disconnect A/C VSV, EGR modulator and EGR vacuum valve hoses.
d. Disconnect canister purge hose from canister, then the vacuum hose from fuel pressure regulator.
3. Disconnect following wires:
a. Disconnect ISC solenoid valve and canister purge VSV connectors.
b. On California models, disconnect REGTS and EGR VSV connectors.
c. Disconnect TPS connector, then the ground wires from intake manifold.
4. Remove accelerator cable from throttle valve lever and bracket.
5. Remove cooling water hoses from air valve and throttle body.
6. Remove alternator adjusting arm stiffener.

7. Remove intake manifold bracket, then the intake manifold with throttle body from cylinder head, Fig. 4.
8. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Use new gasket on intake manifold to cylinder head.

b. Install clamps on manifold, Fig. 5.
c. Tighten bolts and nuts to specification.
