Component Tests and General Diagnostics
Each test must be performed within 3-5 seconds to avoid damage to coil from burning.PULL-IN TEST
1. Disconnect field coil from terminal "M".
Fig. 7 Pull-In Test Lead Connections:
2. Connect test leads as shown, Fig. 7.
3. Ensure pinion (overrunning clutch) jumps out.
4. If pinion is not as specified, replace magnetic switch.
HOLD-IN TEST
Fig. 8 Hold-In Test Lead Connections:
1. Perform "Pull-In Test, then disconnect negative lead from terminal "M", Fig. 8.
2. Ensure pinion remains outside. If pinion retracts, replace magnetic switch.
PINION RETURN TEST
Fig. 9 Pinion Return Test Lead Connections:
1. Perform "Hold-In Test", then disconnect negative lead from body, Fig. 9.
2. Ensure pinion retracts quickly. If pinion remains out, replace magnetic switch.
NO-LOAD PERFORMANCE TEST
Fig. 10 No-Load Performance Test Lead Connections:
1. Connect test leads as shown, Fig. 10.
2. Ensure pinion moves out and motor runs without stopping.
3. Measure ammeter current. Refer to Specifications.
