Pick-Up Coil: Adjustments

Checking Air Gap:

- Remove distributor cap.
- Turn the engine over until a signal rotor tooth is aligned with the generator.
- Using a brass thickness gauge, measure the air gap between the signal rotor tooth and generator.

SIGNAL ROTOR AIR GAP
0.2 - 0.4 mm (0.0070 - 0.016 in)

- If the gap is out of specification, loosen the generator screws.
- Using a standard (-) screwdriver, move generator and adjust gap to specification.
- Tighten screws and recheck adjustment for all teeth (this requires turning the engine over until the other teeth align).

NOTE: If there is a large difference of gap between the different teeth, it indicates a bent distributor shaft.

- Install distributor cap.
