Auxiliary Air Valve (Idle Speed): Testing and Inspection

NOTE:
^ Be very careful to prevent water from entering throttle body bore.
^ Be very careful never to put throttle body parts except air valve thermo wax in water or expose them to water splash.

- Remove throttle body assembly from intake manifold.
- Separate upper and lower bodies.
- Remove WTS from lower body.

Air Valve Inspection:

- Immerse air valve of throttle body in water as shown. Check visually that air valve closes gradually as water temperature rises and closes fully at higher than about 8O° C (176° F.)
If check result is not satisfactory, replace.
- Install WTS with new seal and torque to specified torque.

TORQUE VALUE
20 - 30 Nm (2.0 - 3.0 kg-m, 14.5 - 21.5 lb-ft)

- Put upper and lower bodies together and tighten its screws to specified torque.
Use new gasket between lower and upper bodies.
- Install throttle body to intake manifold and tighten bolts and nuts to specified torque.

TORQUE VALUE
18 - 28 N-m (1.8 - 2.8 kg/m, 13.0 - 20.0 lb-ft)
