Off-Car Inspection

WARNING: As fuel is injected in this inspection, perform in a well ventilated area and away from open flames. When connecting or disconnecting lead wire to battery which actuates injector, spark is emitted and fuel or its vapor from injector may catch fire. To prevent such a danger, keep injector and cylinder as far apart as possible from battery, electric devices and open flames.


- Remove injectors.

Installation Of Checking Tool Set:

- Install injectors to fuel delivery pipe and hold them with special tool (injector holder).

Checking Injection Amount:

- Connect fuel delivery pipe and fuel pipes (fuel feed pipe and return pipe) of car with fuel hoses (special tool). Clamp them securely.
- Connect special tool (injector test lead) to injector.
- Install suitable vinyl tube onto injector nozzle to prevent fuel from splashing out when injecting.
- Put graduated cylinder under injector as shown.
- Operate fuel pump as follows:

Removing Fuel Pump Relay:

*. Remove fuel pump relay from main fuse box after disconnecting it's coupler, and then reconnect coupler to fuel pump relay.

By-Passing Relay To Operate Fuel Pump:

* To operate fuel pump, connect Pink and White/Blue wire terminals by using service wire and then turn ON ignition switch.


- Check fuel hose connections for fuel leakage.
- Connect injector test lead to battery for 15 seconds and measure injected fuel volume with graduated cylinder.
Test each injector two or three times.
If not within specification, replace injector.

INJECTED FUEL VOLUME
59 - 72 cc/15 sec (1.99 - 2.43 US oz/15 sec, 2.53 - 2.08 Imp. oz/15 sec)

Checking Fuel Leakage From Injector:

- After checking injection volume, check fuel leakage from injector nozzle. Do not operate injector for this check (but fuel pump should be at work).

If fuel leaks more than following specifications, replace.

FUEL LEAKAGE
Less than 1 drop/min.

- In the same way, check all four injectors.
- Disconnect service wire from relay and release fuel pressure by actuating injector.
- Remove special tool from injectors and delivery pipe.
