Intake Manifold: Service and Repair
1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then drain cooling system.2. Remove air cleaner.
3. Disconnect the following electric wires:
a. Disconnect ISC solenoid valve and radiator cooling fan thermo switch connectors.
b. On California models, disconnect EGR VSV connectors.
c. On all models, disconnect TPS connector, then the ground wires from intake manifold.
d. Disconnect water temperature sensor and gauge connectors, then the fuel injector connector.
4. Disconnect the following hoses:
a. Disconnect vacuum advancer hoses from distributor, then the PCV hose.
b. Disconnect PS hose and brake booster hose from intake manifold.
c. On California models, disconnect EGR modulator and EGR VSV hoses.
d. On all models, disconnect canister purge hose from intake manifold and its pipe.
e. Disconnect fuel feed and return hoses from throttle body.
5. Remove accelerator cable from throttle body.
6. Remove cooling water hoses from intake manifold and throttle body.

7. Remove intake the manifold with throttle body from cylinder head, Fig. 6.
8. Reverse procedure to install noting the following:
a. Use new gasket on intake manifold to cylinder head.
b. Install clamps on manifold as shown in Fig. 5.
c. Torque all bolts and nuts to specifications.
