Fig. 59 Disconnecting Fuel Pump Relay Coupler:

1. Release fuel system pressure as follows:
a. On manual transmission models, place gear shift lever in Neutral position.
b. On automatic transmission models, place shift selector lever in Park position.
c. On all models, set parking brake and block drive wheels.
d. Remove main fuse box cover,then engine cooling water reservoir from bracket.
e. Detach main fuse box from body, then disconnect coupler from fuel pump relay, Fig. 59.
f. Remove fuel filler cap to release fuel tank vapor pressure, then reinstall cap.
g. Start engine and run till it stops for lack of fuel. Crank engine three times for about three seconds each time.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Remove ISC solenoid valve, then EGR modulator bracket from intake manifold.
4. Disconnect vacuum hose and fuel hoses from delivery pipe.
5. Disconnect coupler from each injector.
6. Remove fuel delivery pipe with fuel injectors, then injectors from delivery pipe.
7. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Apply thin coat of fuel to new injector O-rings.
b. Ensure injectors rotate smoothly in delivery pipe.
c. Check insulators for damage, replace as necessary.
d. Torque delivery pipe bolts to 13.5--20 ft. lbs.
e. Ensure not fuel leaks are present.
