Prior to performing the following procedure, ensure vehicle is in neutral on manual transmission models or park on automatic transmission models. A/C should be off, parking brake should be set and the drive wheels should be blocked.
1. Warm engine to normal operating temperature.
2. While listening to sound of injector by using a sound scope, Fig. 5., increase engine speed to higher than 3000 RPM.
3. Ensure sound to indicate operation of injector stops when throttle valve is closed instantly and is heard again when engine speed is reduced to less than 2000 RPM on Swift with DOHC engine, 1900 RPM on Samurai, and 1600 RPM on Sidekick.
