PART(S) INFORMATION
Inspect magnetic clutch.
1. Start the engine and turn on the A/C with temp set to lowest possible setting and fan ON High. Visually inspect A/C clutch and compressor for normal operation. This can be done either from the top or underneath (by removing under cover). Clutch should be engaged and compressor turning with no abnormal noises or vibration observed. Continue to next step if clutch is not engaging. If the clutch is engaging and there is no cool air coming from the vents, this bulletin does not apply, follow diagnostic procedures in the service manual.
2. Turn OFF engine. Securely place the vehicle on a lift and raise the vehicle enough to access the right front under cover (if not already done). Remove the under cover. (Optionally remove the right front wheel assembly.) Inspect the compressor clutch hub for discoloration or burnt appearance. Rotate the hub, it should rotate with some resistance. If it appears OK, go to step 3 to check continuity of the electromagnet circuit.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector to the clutch magnet to check the resistance of the clutch circuit. There should be between 3.5 and 4.0 ohms of resistance. If it is OK, follow the service manual for further diagnosis, this bulletin does not apply. If it is not in specification, replace the clutch assembly only. Follow the procedure in TSB SX4 HVAC TS 01 09267 to replace the clutch assembly.
